Captain Jack Sparrow and Buck
I have wanted to see 'Pirates of the Caribbean' for a long time, and there has been good reason to watch it too - yet it required the proverbial push. That push came when I watched Ice Age 3. Long time since I saw an animation movie, and probably the first time I saw it in a theatre. It was a thoroughly enjoyable movie, and the star of the movie was the weasel character, Buck. It sure was more bang for my buck than the crap movies Bollywood is dishing out these days. Well, Buck is a spoof on Captain Jack Sparrow. Buck is a weasel marooned in the land of the dinosaurs, surviving against these giants by his wits and resourcefulness. The characterization is brilliant and modelled on Jack Sparrow, and so are the one-liners. Sample this: "Whoa! What, you-you think this is some sort of tropical getaway? You can't protect your mate, mate. What are you gonna do with those-those flimsy tusks when you run into the Beast?".
Since then, I did see all the three parts of 'Pirates of the Caribbean'. And who is Jack Sparrow? An eccentric character - adventurous, showy, cowardly, smooth-talker or considerate? Probably a mix of all. Johnny Depp excels as Jack Sparrow and carries the series on his shoulder.
