LAN BAN Hangover

I am sitting at home, surfing the Net. Its fast approaching midnight, and the back of my mind is the idea that the Net would be off at midnight. I want to finish off work fast. Midnight goes, but the Net is still working. It then dawns on me that I am no longer in IIT Bombay. Its been conditioned into my system that there is no Internet after midnight (for those who don't know, the IIT LAN is not accessible at night from the hostel rooms). I have got to unlearn that now :). No more LAN BANs.

A journey ends ... where next?

Finally, my stint at IIT Bombay is drawing to a close. I have had a view of a whole new world and I consider myself fortunate that I have had that opportunity. Academically, I pursued all that I wanted to and have at least got started on my path. The path starts here, but I don't know where I am headed. Maybe back here :).

As a person, it has been a greater learning experience. It has been my good fortune to have had the company of some of the smartest people and the noblest people. When I sit down to reflect on my experiences, I hope I will imbibe a few things from them. Good times have passed, so have I realized that bad times are inevitable. Both are impostors - and they should be treated the same. I have stayed away from home for the first time, and though I was barely 200km away, the distance could be felt. You could drop sporadically back home, and then you are still not sure to catch up with everybody you would like to meet.

There's more to write, but there are other things to attend to. I will write at length soon, but for now this is Anoop signing off from enchanting IIT, Bombay.

In and Around IIT Bombay

I am already in holiday mode, though I still have a paper left. Evenings at the lakefront or a trip to the top of the hill just behind my hostel, and I realize that this place is so lush green even in the hot summer. Here are some beautiful photos of the campus.
