Ruby

This week I learnt a new scripting language, Ruby. I have always been circumspect of the entire class of scripting languages. They have always seemed so unintuitive, so clumsy. Ruby is a welcome relief. It is a completely object oriented progamming language of the league of SmallTalk with clean semantics, having the orthogonality of C/C++ and the power of Perl. Learning it is a breeze, and writing code is quick given its handy library and support for regular expressions. The PickAxe book is a great way to get started with Ruby. Next up is exploring Ruby On Rails, an entire web development framework centered on Ruby.
