Post vacation musings
A collage of thoughts from my vacation, before I get back to the business of writing regular posts.

Wonder what makes a vacation so welcome? I stepped out of office last week for a vacation, and the words that came to my mind were - 'Freedom'. From that moment, the past ceased to exist and there was nothing to care for in the future - atleast for the vacation. I think this is what makes a vacation great - I am living in the present, in the NOW. All the worries of the past and anxieties of the future cease to exist briefly. I guess, the secret to joy is to live in the present every moment of your life. The sooner I practice it the better! But Hebb's Law takes its good old time :).

It takes 40 hour to travel from Trivandrum to Pune by train. You would say its a waste of time, but I beg to differ. Atleast, I found it to be serious quality time. One, I got a lot of time to think over things . I believe its important to give some space for thinking and introspection away from the routine activities. I make it a point to do that regularly, but in a train you have a goldmine of time to reflect, associate and plan.
More importantly, I could spend more time talking to my family. What do you do when you are travelling through the rocky, barren terrains of Andhra, have ready the dose of newspapers, aren't interested in reading and have tried every delicacy available on the train? Well, just spend a hell lot of time talking - about anything under the sun. If you are at home, everybody's busy with some or the other work. I am guilty there too - the idiot box and to a lesser extent, the PC are my devices to create a fence around me.

Generally, I don't tend to concentrate on the lyrics of songs, since they are playing in the background while I am engaged in some other activity or simply lost in thought :). Since I got a new MP3 player recently, I have taken a liking to the lyrics too. A couple of lines that struck a chord, dedicated to Valentine's Day (albeit belated).
Hoshwalon Ko Khabar Kya
Bekhudi Kya Cheez Hai
Ishq Ki Jaye Phir Samajhiye
Zindagi Kya Cheez Hai
