Is the electronic media serious?

The worst terror attack on the country. The economical capital of the country again targeted. So many lives lost. Valiant soldiers dying answering the call of their duty. After all this, we would expect the media to behave responsibly, focus on serious questions and ask the leaders the tough questions. But, what are their eyes focussed on?

  • The farce being played out between the Kerala CM and Sandip Unnikrishnan's father.
  • Ram Gopal Varma and Riteish Deshmukh (who is he?) visiting Taj makes headlines.
  • Narendra Modi's gimmick of offering compensation to Karkare's family.
  • See the TV channels - filled with naive journalists, reporting all kind of nonsense. Can't they shut their mouths? They are currently busy hosting debates between Indian and Pakistani "experts", where each party wears patriotism on their sleeves.
  • Leaked investigation reports, whose truth can never be trusted.
  • I saw one visual of reporters running behind guests fleeing from one of the hotel exits, two hours after the attacks began.
If the politician must stop paying lip service, the journo must shut up. Better not telecast anything than be insensitive. Be objective, be balanced. We gave up on our politicians long back, but it would be disheartening if the Fourth Estate goes down this path of "tabloid journalism". Fact can then no longer be separated from fiction.

Well said! I was watching the coverage of this act of terror in Mumbai on CNN and some Indian new channels ...CNN had invited a panel of experts in all fields discussing repercussions of this act on the world where as Indian channels were busy showing the (same) visuals in a loop with some stupid host trying to terrorize public ever more.

Very true.

Further, due to the irresponsible media the terrorists held the hotels at ransom longer. They gave away the strategic positions of the NSG commandos which the terrorists might have been watching merrily eating pudding inside the hotel.

I have already given up on the media long time ago. They are more concerned about TRP ratings and fueling foolish rage.
