Atlas conquered

Finally, I finished reading Atlas Shrugged. It took me about two months, but it was worth every second of it. If Fountainhead is the ultimate exposition of Ayn Rand's philosophy, then Atlas Shrugged is the soul. The heart of Ayn Rand's philosophy is expoused so logically that you cannot but agree with it. It is poetry in prose. As in Fountainhead, there are brilliant one-liners. Though great on content, the novel falls short on presentation compared to Fountainhead. The characters aren't sketched that well and the end is really a disappointment for a work of this quality.
If Fountainhead redefined egotism, this one redefines materialism. To put it briefly, materialism is the relentless pursuit of the human spirit for excellence whose only value system is the value of purpose, reason, belief and justice. What is life without some purpose? How can something be accepted without a reason? Isn't it belief in an idea that drives you? I couldn't agree more.
That completes my quartet of books that I will always cherish - The Fountainhead, Atlas Shrugged, The Alchemist and The Monk Who Sold his Ferrari.
