Phir bhi dil hai Hindustani ...

Last week saw a farce by the electronic media. All news channels carrying the story of the "rescue mission" of the 6-year old boy Prince, trapped in a 60 feet deep hole at prime time as prime news - makes me wonder how more sensational and dumb the Indian media could get. By what height of imagination could this incident be classified as such a path-breaking event so as to hog prime-time on major news channels? And we had media men gloating about the operation being carried under the "able supervision" of the Chief Minister of Harayana.
At the same time, Star Gold was airing the movie "Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani" - Paresh Rawal's character being hung to death in full glare of the media, complete with public opinion and Paresh Rawal's attire with sponsored logos !!
The state of affairs in this Prince episode is no different. Aziz Mirza deserves credit for accurately predicting the state of affairs of the media :D.
I am puzzled at how reputed channels and editors could trivialize news. Truly as the title song of the movie goes..

"Hum logon ko samajh sako toh sabjo dilbar jaani,
jitna bhi samjho utnio hogi hairani"
